It was a wild, wet and windy day when Devon County Council and Ivybridge Community Council held an open day to celebrate the schools composting project. Ivybridge are using a Big Hanna T75, provided by Devon County Council, to compost their kitchen waste and use the resultant compost, after maturation, in the school’s polytunnel. Ivybridge are part of a schools composting programme put in place in over 40 primary and secondary schools across the county by Devon County Council. As well as Ivybridge, Okehampton College have a Big Hanna T60 whilst other schools are using a combination of the Ridan Composter and Nicky Scott’s ‘Hot Box’ composter.
